Active Play Using a Cubby Fort Is Healthy Play for Kids

Active play happens when kids get together and they are given the opportunity to just go, go, go. That’s because kids love to be active! Giving your children the space and the place in their backyard to go all out and play is the best way to keep them healthy. Just think about it: running and jumping helps them build their muscles, pretending and having make-believe adventures teaches them problem solving skills, being active and animated helps them maintain a healthy body weight and being in the great outdoors boost their development. All of these things come from just a little active play – what a great bonus for getting a cubby fort in your backyard.

Is it hard to find reasons for your kids to go outside and play? Do you find that you have to pull them off the couch and away from their video games? If this is a daily problem in your home, you need to do something about it quick! You have to get your kids involved in playing outdoors so they can grow up strong and healthy. the easiest way to do that is to invest in their health by getting a great backyard toy that they will want to play with all the time – like one of our cubby forts or houses.

You kids will go from being a couch potato one day to waiting by the door being so excited to get outside and play in their cubby. They will jump down fireman’s poles, slide down slides and run right back up them over and over again. All the while, they will build their muscles and strength their hearts.

You will find it is easy to get your kids to exercise – and that is not an easy feat! According to today’s statistics, which shows that that 74% of children do not get enough exercise on a daily basis, based on the 60 minutes of daily physical activity, which is the recommended amount according to WebMD.  But 60 minutes is nothing when you have a cool toy like a cubby fort to play with outside. Add a few friends and your kids will be playing all day long.

Active play is not only good for the body, heart and muscles, it is also good for your child’s brain. When given the opportunity to play in an unstructured environment like our cubbies, kids will come up with adventures that involve quick thinking along with scrambling around. They come up with problems to face and solutions that will get them out of these problems. For instance, your son may realize the waves rocking his cubby fort on the high seas will capsize him unless he slides down the slide to the safety of a hidden island. Hey, in the world of their make-believe it -and much more – can happen!

If you are aware of how hard it can be to get your kids to exercise, take a look at our cubby houses and forts. You will be glad you did when you watch your children enjoy their active play with their cool new backyard toy.
