We know that a cubby house can make your kids fitter as they charge around climbing, running, jumping, leaping and sliding. But how can a cubby house make your child perform better academically? Well, a new study has been released that shows a strong correlation between fitness and academic performance, specifically reading and math tests. The study tracked more than 13,000 students during 2011 and 2012 school year. The study measured kids’ fitness levels with five tests using a tool called FitnessGram. The tests measure whether a child is in a ‘healthy fitness zone’ for their age and gender. They do this by looking at endurance, flexibility, aerobic capacity and muscular strength.
